The AEM3 is a K model short suppressor, ideal for tactical short barreled rifles, and is reminiscent of a time when craftsmanship and tactical superiority was key. The AEM3 is one of the more versa lite Allen Engineering suppressors, and will do well paired with an AR15/M4 style rifle. The suppressor traces its roots back to OPS Inc. days when Phil Seberger ran the company, and OPS Inc. was the biggest name in military suppressors in use for the M16 and M4A1 rifles.
Highlights
- Original OPS Inc. design
- Allen Engineering manufactured
- Optimized for CQB engagements
- Shorter K style over the barrel suppressor
- Perfect for short barreled rifles
- Mountable down to 11.5″ barrel with front sight base
- Shares collar mounts with AEM2 and AEM4
The AEM3 is designed to for a shorter close quarters engagement, and was originally part of a Canadian military upgrade of their C8 rifle platform, called the CAN-SOF CQB Upper Receiver from Colt Canada, and interestingly used a Smith Industries Vortex flash hider, with a specially designed M4 collar. The shorter 15th Model (AEM3) was favored by Canadian Special Forces. The AEM5 has been used by US Department of Defense and law enforce SWAT teams from the late 1980s. While the baffle stack is shorter on the AEM3, compared to the more well-known AEM5, the suppressor offers suppression on a par with “K cans” from leading manufacturers, while its design is roughly 40 years old.
The AEM3 is painstaking made in the same tradition, by hand, as the OPS Inc 15th model, and is made from 304 stainless and has a black Cerakote finish.
