A rather unique piece of history, when Colt had a matching upper and lower Commando.  This was a very limited run. How cool would this be to pair with an XM177 style Commando upper?

Charlie’s gets these in on complete SBR commando rifles, and separates the lower.  You can use as a standard rifle lower, or ask us if you want it shipped with a short barreled upper and you will have a Form-4 ready rifle at your FFL.  After we ship to you, we formally advise the ATF that the lower is no longer part of a short barreled rifle, and ask the ATF to remove the serial number from the NFA database.  Note:  It is perfectly legal for you to assemble a 16+” barreled rifle, and even though the ATF has not yet delisted, you will not have an illegal SBR.  A short barreled rifle only exists when the upper has a barrel of under 16 inches, regardless of the lower.

This is not an NFA item.  Ships to your FFL as a lower receiver (other), not a pistol and not a rifle.

This lower left the Colt factory as a Short Barreled rifle, so:  

1)  It cannot legally be configured into an AR Pistol.  Ever.  Unless a law gets changed or overruled.

2)  It transfers as a normal Title 1 lower, and can be configured immediately as a standard rifle.  If you wish to “make” an SBR via Form 1, you will need to wait until the ATF removes the lower from the NFA database, which will be quite a few months.  Normally, we have the flexibility to ship with a short barreled upper as an NFA item to your dealer for you to Form 4 the rifle, so check with us, if you intend to have an SBR.

Buying and shipping through Charlie’s is easy, but there is some information you need to know. This item must ship to FFL holder. No civilian exceptions.

       1)  Check your state laws to make sure the federally regulated item you want to purchase is legal in your state.

       2)  Find your FFL… Have your dealer send us a copy of their FFL to Charlie’s

       3)  Be patient! You should hear from our compliance department within 3-4 business days. If not, feel free to reach out for a status update.
