What this lower is (and isn’t)

GM Hydra-Matic famously contracted to produce M16A1 lowers during Vietnam, and original Hydra-Matic-rolled A1s are a collector item today. Charlie’s took Tactical Machining’s quality A1 forging platform and reworked it into an A2 pattern — three-position safety markings, A2 magwell reinforcement, the “Property of US Government” line, and Hydra-Matic clone engraving on the right side. For a purist: no, GM Hydra-Matic did not build documented A2 lowers. The A2 engraving here is decorative, intended for a clone builder who wants the Hydra-Matic aesthetic on an A2 or A4 project. The three-position selector marks and “Auto” label are cosmetic. The fire control pocket is cut for a standard semi-auto trigger group only — this is not a registered machine gun and cannot be converted legally.
