Upgrade your AR-15 build with the PSA JAKL 14.5″ Rifle Length Upper Assembly in 5.56 NATO — a premium piston-driven platform from Palmetto State Armory that combines AK reliability with AR modularity. This monolithic upper features a long-stroke gas piston operating system, fully captured buffer in the upper receiver (no traditional buffer tube needed), and compatibility with any mil-spec AR-15 lower receiver (requires PSA JAKL proprietary buffer system for proper function).
Key Features & Specifications:
- Barrel: 14.5″ 4150V Chrome Moly Vanadium steel, nitride-treated for exceptional durability and corrosion resistance, 1:7 twist rate, 1/2×28 thread pitch
- Muzzle Device: Pin & welded JMAC KeyMicro muzzle brake — suppressor-ready design for quick attach/detach with compatible KeyMicro devices
- Operating System: Long-stroke gas piston with toolless 8-position adjustable gas block for tuned performance across ammo types and suppressors
- Bolt Carrier Group (BCG): 4340 carrier paired with 7-lug shot-peened Carpenter 158 bolt — AK/AR hybrid design for smooth, reliable cycling
- Receiver: Monolithic 6105 aluminum rifle-length upper with rifle-length handguard
- Charging Handle: Ambidextrous black knurled side charger — toolless reversible for left- or right-side operation
- Additional Highlights: Field-strippable without tools (easy carrier, recoil assembly, and sled removal), reduced overall firearm length potential with folding stocks, soft-shooting recoil impulse compared to direct impingement ARs
- Finish: Black anodized for a sleek, rugged look
Perfect for shooters seeking a piston-driven 5.56 upper, suppressor host setup (thanks to the KeyMicro compatibility), or a modern hybrid rifle build. The PSA JAKL platform delivers enhanced reliability, easier maintenance, and versatility — all backed by PSA’s full lifetime warranty on defects in materials and workmanship.
Important Note: Must pair with a PSA JAKL lower or lower build kit featuring the proprietary JAKL buffer system to avoid potential damage. Not compatible with standard AR-15 buffer setups.
